About me

me·an·der verb
1. To follow a winding and turning course
2. To move aimlessly and idly without fixed direction

When the school year started in 2010, I was your typical, American, stay-at-home mom. I volunteered at the school, was active at my church, and spent my afternoons ferrying the kids around to numerous extracurricular activities. My weekdays were filled with grocery shopping, trips to Target and Starbucks, and working out at the gym. Weekends were spent watching my kids' sports events.

Then, my husband's company offered him a job in Penang, Malaysia.

At first, I was reluctant to move. When I thought of Malaysia, I drew a blank. I knew nothing about that place. Even though my parents grew up in the Philippines, also in Southeast Asia, it all seemed too foreign.

But eventually, I came around. What an adventure this could be!

Flash forward to the summer of 2011. We bid Texas "Hasta la vista," and said "Howdy!" to Penang.

I don't have any big plans. I'll meander wherever my mood takes me. And blog about it here so that you don't have to draw a blank whenever you think of Malaysia.
