I agree with Mary that The Gallery Inn looks amazing! When we went we also stayed at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach hotel. It was simple, but I loved it. The made-to-order, different every day breakfasts were one of my favorite breakfast at a hotel (or really anywhere) moments. It seemed to have brought romance up to a whole new level. Wow on the sunrise views you got too. his truly looked like a very romantic trip with lots of adventure thrown in. We've gone to Puerto Rico on pre and post-cruise stays and with kids. Thanks for showing me its potential for a romantic getaway. We loved hiking El Yunque too and it's been a dream to do the kayaking on the bioluminescent bay. How cool! I hope to take my kids there sometime. Yes, the Old San Juan and Intromuros definitely share the same colonial Spanish influence. I had not heard that some coconuts in PR were called Filipinos. So dramatic! Ahh...love PR. I was there in 2005. I love how Old San Juan reminded me of Old Manila. Puerto Rico shares same colonial history as the Phillipines. Along with Cuba, Spain handed them to the US at the same time under the Treaty of Paris. When I visited PR, I was surprised to learn how much trace of the Philippines was brought to the PR by the Spaniards - the bamboos, the coconut trees, etc. I woudn't know until one of the bus drivers told me so. In fact, they call some of the coconut varieties "Filipinos."
